Baillon Wins Karla E. Wahl Award

On May 18, 2023, plaintiffs’ employment lawyers of Minnesota came together to honor and celebrate an outstanding attorney who has dedicated her career to championing employee rights and fighting for justice. We are thrilled to announce that Frances Baillon, a distinguished attorney at Wanta Thome, has been awarded the prestigious Karla E. Wahl Award by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA). This recognition is a testament Frances’ unwavering dedication and significant contributions to promoting workplace fairness. Frances follows in the footsteps of Wanta Thome member Joni Thome, who won the Karla E. Wahl award in 2012.

Throughout her career, Frances Baillon has been a catalyst for change, fearlessly taking on complex cases and advocating for those who have experienced injustice in the workplace. She has established herself as a true force in employment law, known for her tenacity and compassion in representing employees facing workplace discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination. The Karla Wahl Dedicated Advocacy Award was established in 2000 by Minnesota NELA to honor the memory of Karla Wahl. Karla was a dedicated and loyal advocate of civil rights who worked tirelessly to protect and advance the rights of employees in this state. Karla was a true friend to NELA and its members and she is greatly missed by those who knew her and worked with her. The Karla Wahl Dedicated Advocacy Award was established to honor Karla’s memory and to continue her tradition of promoting employee rights.

Recognizing the importance of education and empowerment, Frances has made significant contributions to advancing employment law knowledge and promoting fairness in the workplace.
